Soil & Substrate
In Nature Aquarium, the substrate is a very important component. This is where the aquatic plants are planted and then spread their roots for growth. In the substrate, the roots of the aquatic plants and the microorganisms have a kind of symbiotic relationship and thereby support the ecosystem of the aquarium.
Excessive accumulation of dirt in the substrate can cause lack of oxygen and result in deteriorated water quality and excessive algal growth leading to the collapse of the aquarium ecosystem. The substrate is alive if aquatic plants are growing healthily on it
